The federal government and the German state governments have agreed on new testing obligations to contain the Corona pandemic in Germany. From 23 August at the latest, the rule of 3G (geimpft, genesen, flt) will apply (vaccinated, cured, tested).
Those who are not vaccinated must then show a negative Corona test, for instance, at indoor events. This restriction does not apply to schoolchildren or youngsters under the age of six. All unvaccinated people will undergo screening in full due to the rise in illnesses.

According to Rule 3G, anyone who has not received all recommended vaccinations or who is not deemed cured will eventually have to submit a fast antigen test (maximum age of 24 hours) or a PCR test (maximum age of 48 hours). As a result, tests will be required, for instance, to enter hospitals, nursing and care facilities, restaurants, concerts, and festivals, as well as to visit salons or hair salons. The same is true, for instance, of indoor sports or lodging in hotels and guesthouses.

As long as the 7-day incidence in a district remains stable and less than 35 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, the federated states may suspend the 3G rule in whole or in part.

The Corona tests are compensated.

Beginning on October 11, unvaccinated individuals will also be required to take the Corona citizenship test. On this issue, the federal and state governments have likewise reached a consensus. Those who are unable to receive vaccinations or for whom immunization is not generally advised, such as pregnant women, children, and adolescents under the age of 18, will still be eligible for free testing. Chancellor Merkel stated: "Given that we can already, in principle, make a full vaccination offer to every citizen of the Federal Republic of Germany or to every citizen, we will end free citizen tests for all from 11 October."

Be vaccinated

The leaders of state governments and Chancellor Angela Merkel urged citizens to get the coronavirus vaccine as soon as possible. In the EU, Germany is no longer at the vanguard of immunization. "I urge all those who have received vaccinations to urge their friends, acquaintances, and family members to do the same. In addition to protecting us, it also protects others who cannot receive vaccinations, such as children or those who have had prior medical conditions," Merkel stated.

The number of coronavirus infections has been constantly increasing for a few weeks. Their evolution largely depends on the level of vaccination coverage in Germany. "We will have fewer infections the more people will be vaccinated," said the chancellor.

Quarantine obligation: This is applied to all vaccinated people and those who have recovered from the disease.

Those who have received all recommended vaccinations save society from a new wave of the corona virus by protecting both themselves and others from it. Individuals with similar immunity have recovered from a cardiac infection and received a booster shot six months later. Therefore, people who have been vaccinated and recovered will not be subject to federal or state laws that demand testing.

In addition, there will no longer be a quarantine requirement for asymptomatic close contacts. Vaccinated and cured persons are also exempted from the quarantine obligation when they return to Germany from a high-risk area.
